Elizabeth aka Mom Is Crazy

My name is Ted, Elizabeth's husband. I am sorry to tell you that Elizabeth passed away unexpectedly today. I'm not sure but it appears it may have been a sudden heartattack. Harriet and I will go on, but without Elizabeth there will be no one to keep up this website. I know several of you were friends of hers if you want you can find me on Facebook, I'm not sure but I think you can just search for me by name Ted Bowles. Send me a friend request and I'll inform you of the arrangements when I know what they are.

As it appears at this time the memorial service will be in Washington, NC probably on Monday, I don't know the time or the name of the funeral home.

Just a few things...

Harris Teeter is running a Super Doubles Coupon event this week. This means they will double any coupon that has a face value of 1.98 or less! Could make for some great deals. I am running on empty and am still finding better deals (for our family/needs) at Food Lion but be sure to check it out if you are so inclined!

Food Lion is running a 3 day sale , Friday-Sunday. I believe the sale items are listed in the regular ad. Again, some not too bad deals there. I, for one, will be grabbing some toilet paper!

I had to do some training yesterday for my new job and after a summer of getting up REALLY late in the morning and staying up at night REALLY late it was rough going yesterday. It will take me a week or so to get used to getting up early again. On top of that we had our first day of 2nd Grade yesterday, so even though I did visit Food Lion to use up the rest of my FLIPS that were expiring yesterday I was just too pooped to type it up last night.

I GOT A JOB!!!

Just when things were looking really bad and some hard decisions were coming up... I got a job!!! Not just any job... But a job with my old company!! I loved working for them and was sorry to let it go in April but had no choice. Out of the blue today, my very first boss there (he is now on a different project in the same company) calls me and asks if I can come back on his program! YAY!!!!

Now people who know me know that I am not a church go-er, but I do believe there is someone out there watching over us. I believe in a higher power, karma, call it what you will. My belief has grown over the last year because things keep happeneing just when we need them too, random things, things you could not plan for and are just out of the blue. It happens too often for it not be something more than just chance. Now I am not saying that the bad doesn't happen too but I definitely see the good and maybe should take more notice of it!

This was one of those things.

*breathes sigh of relief*

Bad things happen in threes right?

First my car acts up but then it starts working ok again, then hubbie's car acts up and has to have a part replaced,
THEN his computer chair breaks, then a dining room chair breaks,
THEN I get a really bad toothache/infection, then hubbie gets an earache/infection,
THEN the dryer just stops working....
Oh Lord what is coming next, cus for us lately it is coming in pairs!!!!

*constant chant of *What does not kill us makes us stronger.. What does not kill us makes us stronger...*

FREE BACON and CAT FOOD!

Go to Smithfield.com and sign up at the link at the top of the page, once you sign up you will be sent to a link to print a coupon for $3/1 Smithfield Bacon. Quickly hit the back button a few times til you see the little printer button sending again and it will let you print another one. Then take those coupons to Harris Teeter where the Smithfield bacon is on sale for $3 each. This means FREE BACON.

Then go HERE and sign up and answer the questions (if you want cat food be sure to answer about cats not dogs!!) and at the end it will let you print a coupon for $3.50 off one bag. Take this to HT and get FREE CAT FOOD since theirs is on sale for 3.50 a bag this week. If you have a dog I think it will give you a Q for the same amount off dog food so still a good deal.

Wednesday HT Triples and FL FLIPS!

Let's try this again. Earlier this stupid thing ate my post!!
Ok looks ok for now... *crosses fingers*

Decided to go and grab the few things I was interested in for Triples. But more importantly I have FLIPS that need to be used!! Also a fabulous deal at Lowes Foods. Then stopped at Briley's for some fresh produce, our little splurge in the summer time is buying local on some stuff. Just can't beat it!

First, if you haven't done so, GET THE SHOPPERS CARDS AT ALL STORES. You MUST have these to get the full deals!!! Next, go to Lowes Foods site and sign up for E-Offers. Then go in and select all of the Academix Stationary coupons. These coupons are loaded directly to your Lowes Rewards card and are automatically redeemed when you purchase the item. There are about 10-15 things that are BOGO this week in the stationary stuff, there are coupons for these. Combined you actually get some overage on some of the items!!! You will see what I got and the e-offers coupons used in the store list below.

You also need to sign up for the Food Lion Shoppers Companion that will send a weekly email with coupons. Also, the HT E-VIC which is a weekly email that offers at least one E-VIC only offer per week. Sometimes for free stuff!!!

Finally, just a piece of advice. If you see a deal that is AWESOME and you want to do it, go ahead and do it ASAP if you can. Here is the reason why, this week Staples had an awesome .01 deal. You could get 6 1 subject notebooks for just ONE CENT EACH. But the deal was only good thru today and only while supplies lasted. I messed around and didn't go until tonight and of course they were sold out. So I missed a great deal that I wanted to do because I was being LAZY!!! LOL

I went out shopping earlier in the day with the Little One in tow, then back out again tonight so I could shop and think at the same time!! LOL Everything is combined together.

Tuesday Shopping

I ended up going late today to grab a few things.

Don't forget TRIPLES at HT start tomorrow. This means that any coupon with a face value of .99 or lower will be tripled in value! ie. .50 = 1.50, .75 = 2.25 etc.

Reminder, HT will now ONLY triple 20 coupons per day. PERIOD. The registers are now coded to the VIC cards. There is no way around it. Also remember that you can only use 3 like coupons per transaction. Say you had 10 of the same coupon. You could do 4 transactions (if your store would let you, altho I think most are sticking to the rules pretty closely now) or go on 4 different days or visit multiple stores. But again, they will only TRIPLE 20 coupons PER DAY but you can visit different stores to use those 20 coupons too.

Last week I actually had a Food Lion store give me back money. Now this is NOT the norm and I even questioned the cashier (I had combined the wrong products to use the FLIPS bringing my total too low!) but she assured me that this was ok. Never, ever count on this happening just be happy if it ever does! It was kinda fun even if it was only .03! LOL

Ok, on to todays shopping.

They really are trying to kill me!

So Food Lion comes out with a new Guiding Stars FLIP today that is good until 9/1!!!! AND they came out with at $1/$3 Smart Options purchase FLIP. So combine those with the ongoing (until 8/25) Home 360 FLIP and well you see where the plot is!!! You can send cards and flowers to me when I end up at the hospital!!

Today I just needed to grab a few items and HAD to get my ink cartridge refilled at Walgreens. (yes, so I can print out all those FLIPS!).

WALGREENS-
I ended up doing the Kellogg's Fuel for School deal at Walgreens today because I needed to get my ink cartridge refilled. That is 12.50. So with the $5/$25 Q and the insert Q's I could do pretty good. Well turned out they didn't charge for the ink refill because it didn't pass their *print test*. She said it will probably still work though! (It is working but not very well, I may have to cough up the money to get a new cartridge soon.) So I had to do a quick adjustment to the original plan. Here is what I did.

1 Ink Cartridge Refill FREE
2 Kellogg's cereals 2.50 each - $1/2 Insert Q + Earn $2 RR
2 Pop-Tarts 2.00 each - $1/2 Insert Q

All kinds of shopping!

Well as usual I was being a slacker and just now put in some receipts from Sunday and Monday.

I also went and did a little shopping today. I decided to try a little early Christmas shopping.

I was hoping for a big score at Target since there were rumors that the Target Toy Clearance might be hitting 75% this week. But at my store there was very little on clearance and for the most part it was still just 30% off. Nothing really for me to go back and get either when it does get to 75%. This is a disappointment because last year I got SO MUCH STUFF when they did the 75% off clearance. I am hoping this is just the first round as last year the sale was a bit later. Guess we will have to wait and see. I did find one thing at Toys R Us in their clearance area so that was nice!

Finally the Guiding Starts FLIP was reset and extended to 8/4 so that means more cheap stuff at FL!!!!

Briley's Produce- Hubbie asked from some good local cantaloupe and tomatoes, I also grabbed a few peaches.

More drinks and FLIPS!

So they ended up extending the Guiding Stars FLIP promo for another week!!! Go to the FL website and play the Guiding Stars game, at the end you will get a chance to print a FLIP for $1 off ANY guiding stars item. Remember if you want to use this FLIP multiple times before 7/28 you need to change the print amount when it pops up!!! Also remember you can only use one of each FLIP per transaction (but you can use one of each different FLIP in the same transaction)so if you want to use more than one you gotta do more than one transaction.

I spent some time wondering the aisles looking for the items that have the Guiding Stars green tag and found tons of stuff that will be a fairly good deal so you will see a random selection of things from me over the next week.

Kroger- Stocking up hard on these drinks while they are this cheap! I have no clue where I am gonna put them all but it is worth it to find a place!

Hubbie said he had some folks where he works that had questions about my abbreviations I use in the posts. So to help out with that I have added a What it means? section to my ABOUT page. Go there and you will see it on the right hand side. Please let me know if you see any others that I left off the list and I will update it ASAP!

Also remember my LINKS page has links to the forums I use and some webpages and blogs that have great explanations on everything from basic couponing how-to's to how to play the drugstore games to weekly deals lists for the different stores!!!

I am just lazy!

Summer has really done a number on me! SOOOOO lazy. I have one receipt from 7/15 and then a few from 7/18 that I will update now.

Just a Note: HT is doing Super Double Coupons starting Wed the 22nd thru the 28th so get all those coupons up to 1.99 out and check the boards to see what deals are showing up!

Another Note: Kroger is doing the Mega 10 event again this week and 2 liter Coke products are included. You can end up with 10 2 liters for 4.90 after the discount!!! There are a ton of other items included in the sale so check out the ad for things that might work for you and go here to see a nice coupon matchup.

Ok on with the update:

Food Lion 7/15-
*Produce FLIP came out this week so I made a quick run to grab some cheap produce. ALSO, according to the boards alot of stores over ordered on the cherries that were 1.99 a pound sale price this week so they have reduced them to .99 a pound. Since they are normally 4.99 a pound you can end up with 2 pounds for free with the FLIP if you are so inclined. This sale ends Tuesday!

A little HT doubles today

I know I haven't really posted about the HT Doubles Event that ends tomorrow. I really was just not that excited. With our limited budget there just wasn't alot of *great* deals for me this time. But that is because I do have a huge stockpile to pull from and am concentrating on just getting the items I need to fill in.

I actually have stopped buying the Sunday papers for the most part and started just buying the coupons I need/want from the coupon clipping sites or Ebay. At $2 a pop I can't justify buying the paper for just a few coupons I want right now and then if I want to get multiples it gets insane. I do check the preview each week and if I see a great week of coupons coming out I will buy it then.

Anyway, I did do a quick trip today so I could get lots of free Kraft salad dressing! Since HT has decided to enforce the 20 Q's per day limit by actually blocking the VIC cards after 20, I had to go today since I have so dang many of them to use up. I will go again tomorrow as well.

Also made a quick trip to Kroger and grabbed some drinks and manager markdowns.

All of these totals are going on July's totals as I would normally have just waited until PayDay tomorrow.

HT-2 stores today, 3 transactions and total of 19 doubling coupons plus 3 free item coupons.

As I said before the deals seem to be thin for me right now based on our needs and budget.

TIP: The registers are apparently coded now to no longer allow more than 2 coupons on the B2G3 deals, the cashier was going to use them but the register kicked it out, she also asked if they were BOGO so that leads me to believe that the registers are coded for that as well now.

9 8oz Kraft Dressing 1.99 - $1/1 Insert Q = FREE
5 Pop Secret B2G3 2.99 each - .50/1 Insert Q x 2= 3.98 for 5 or .80 each

So lazy!!!!

OMG we are being so lazy and it makes me forget to post about what little shopping I am doing!!! I had a quick trip last Sunday to Walgreens to use up my last $10 RR but that has been it!

I am only able to do this because of our huge stockpile. I am really going to be in maintenance only mode. And now it seems the stores are changing their policies/enforcing the current ones to the point that the deals are kinda slim right now. I am not complaining as I have said all along that it seemed really silly for the stores to literally pay me to shop. And there are still good deals to be found it is just that we are so stocked up on most stuff that I can be a little more choosy on the deals I am going to do.

Also received my $25 Target GC from this deal and my $8 Orajel Rebate.

Anyway, here is the Walgreens trip so I can add it to my totals.

1 Gallon Milk 3.19

In Summer Mode

Since the shopping will be slim I might share some of my summertime activities with the Little One while she is home this summer.

Today we made Bubble Stuff. She loves to make bubbles but I am not gonna pay all summer long for that stuff!

There are tons of recipes online, some use glycerin, some use Karo syrup. Just do a google search and you will be amazed.
The recipe I used is:
1 cup Water
2 Tbs Dawn Dishwashing Liquid
1 Tbs Karo Syrup

Mixed it in a 2ltr bottle that we decorated and am letting it sit overnight. I hope it works cus it is sure cheaper to do it that way!

HT and Free ARBY'S Today!

I am LOVING the Wednesday Free Arby's promo!!! This week it was a free Chicken Club Sandwich (normally 4.27) with a drink purchase (regular drink 1.59).

I took my daughter with me and was able to get 2 free sandwiches PLUS a free Beef and Cheddar for turning in the receipt from my previous trip.
PLUS got another survey recipt which will get me another free Beef and Cheddar. PLUS Hubbie stopped on his way home and got one more free Chicken Club and ANOTHER receipt with the survey option!

In the end for 3 drinks, 4 free sandwiches and receipts that will get me another 2 free sandwiches:

Saved- 14.81
Spent- 5.00

It doesn't get much cheaper than that! And the Chicken Club's were GOOD!

I also stopped by my favorite local produce stand (Briley's on 14th St, Open 9-6 W-F and 9-2 on Saturday's) that is now open for the season and grabbed a few tomatoes at 1.50/lb. That total was 2.25.

Finally I went to HT to use up 2 more of my $10 RR and grab some staples.

I have one more trip planned for Lowe's on Sunday and then pretty much no more shopping for June. At least not on a big scale. Some produce here and there but that will pretty much be it. Being broke has definitely put some limits on shopping!

The good thing is that I will be able to let go of some of that *need to find the good deals feeling* and begin to slow down and relax and enjoy the summer with my daughter!

Walgreens

AMAZING MM deal this week at Walgreens.

Use the Up To $30 off a Bayer Contour or Breeze 2 monitor (3 current Q's from different Insert weeks). The monitors are on sale for $10. So that is free. THEN it prints out a $10 RR !!! A $10 MM for each monitor!! **REMEMBER, you have to buy each one seperately to get the $10 RR for each one! It will only print one per deal per transaction!!!

I bought 10 coupons on Ebay for 19.95(free shipping). In my area you do have to pay sales tax. So for an investment of less than $30 I made $90!!!!
(I gave one of my Q's to the very nice manager who made sure the store had plenty in stock and who set the mean cashier straight when she decided I could not do this deal! LOL I think I made couponing at that Walgreens a WHOLE lot easier for the future! He was very excited! So definitely worth the investment.)

Also the 45 ct Ecotrin is on sale for $2 and there was a $2 Insert Q in the 5/17 inserts which will make it free but BONUS it also prints out a $2 RR!! So it is another great MM this week!

2 stores, 9 transactions

9 Bayer Glucose Monitors sale price $10 - Up to $30 off 1 Insert Q x 9 PLUS $10 RR for each
2 Ecotrin sale price $2 - $2/1 Insert Q x 2 PLUS $2 RR for each

HT Triples and a few more stops

At first I was sad this triples, not too much I wanted or needed. No really good sales to match up. *sigh*

THEN I thought about what a GOOD thing that is! It means my stockpile is fully stocked (very very true on most of the *freebies* listed) and I have recently scored some great deals on meat etc so I am actually pleased. I have to change the mindset to maintain mode now, and keep an eye out for those few things I do need.

I didn't go to the store until this afternoon, and the HT on Charles was out of the Hefty cups and Pringles.

I did get:
2 Lawry's Marinades BOGO 1.62 - .50/1 Insert Q x 2

Summer Freebies for Kids!

Hey Guys!!! I am in search mode for free/super cheapo things to do this summer with the kiddo. At 7 she is gonna require alot more this summer. LOL Here is what I have found so far:

#1- FREE MOVIES!
Check the list to see if any theaters near you are participating!
Each week starting 6/16 thru 8/11 on Tues, Wed, Thursday at 10AM they will be showing 2 FREE MOVIES for kids and parents!! COMPLETELY FREE!!! No coupons needed!! No hidden fees!!! Check the link below for theaters and the full list of movies . http://www.regmovies.com/nowshowing/familyfilmfestivalschedule.aspx?state=NC

#2- FREE BOWLING
AMF is offering 2 FREE Games EVERY DAY at participating lanes this summer. You do have to pay shoe rentals (or buy some shoes which I am looking into now) and the rental prices vary from location to location.
It does REQUIRE signup thru the link I am putting in. Once signed up and you confirm thru the email they send, they then send out coupons weekly (these coupons CANNOT be copied, they have special numbers on each one that are validated when turned in).
ALSO (lol) at my location they are offering a special pass you can purchase for the *family* that allows you to add 4 people for like 24.00. For that price, each of the 4 listed can also bowl 2 free games per day. Not a bad deal if you want family fun!
http://www.kidsbowlfree.com/amf.php

Leave a comment if you know of any other freebies in Greenville NC area or elsewhere in the state!

Good Sunday Morning!!

I woke up SOOO late today! I just knew I wouldn't be able to find a paper anywhere! But I did and they had plenty left?!?! Very unusual. Then I remembered the students from ECU have all gone home!! Maybe they bought alot of papers? LOL Anyway, grabbed my 2 copies and I am happy!

I was going to stop buying the Sunday paper. With the increase to $2 a paper it just seemed like ALOT to pay. I was going to start just buying what Q's I wanted from The Coupon Clippers. While I will still use them some to buy multiples of really good Q's, I realized that if I don't buy a copy or two of the paper I will miss out on ALOT of the MM deals!!! I would never buy some of the Q's ahead of time and then would miss out on the MM's. So for now I will buy 1 or 2 copies and then just use TCC to fill in on multiples.

So after grabbing my papers I went to Rite Aid to make some more MONEY!!! LOL

My total this time, you ask????

Actually, it was a great MM day in general. Did the Kraft BBQ sauce deal 4 times. So I could get the 2.50 CAT each time! Also grabbed some cheap salad dressings!

5 transactions/2 stores

Transaction #1- (HT at Bells Fork is tightening up their policy on B2G3 and coupons. They are enforcing the only 2 Q's for the BBQ sauce. *sigh* I figured it was coming cus this was a GREAT moneymaker for everyone! So I decided to just get my salad dressing here and then went to the other store to get my BBQ sauce.)

It must be my lucky week!!!

ACCCKKK!!! I FORGOT!!

DANGIT!!! I meant to post this on Wednesday and TOTALLY forgot guys. Sorry!!!

Go here to check out the details about the Arby's Free Wednesdays. She even has a copy of the flyer showing what is free each Wednesday all summer long!

I went Wednesday and got my FREE Blue Cheese Roastburger (it was a choice of any of the Roastburgers) with a soft drink purchase. So for 1.59 I got a drink and a sammy!!! Cheap lunch!

BUT here is the best part, my receipt had red words on the edge saying Free Roast Beef. I turned it over and WOOT a link for a survey at Arby's (has to be completed within 2 days of purchase time). If you complete the VERY SHORT survey you get a code that you fill in on the receipt and take it back in next time you go to get a FREE Regular Roast Beef or Beef and Cheddar!!! OMG I LOVE THOSE!

Soo in the end I will have paid 1.59 for a drink, Roastburger and Beef and Cheddar.

PLUS I am going to take it in next Wednesday and see if that *purchase* of the sandwich will qualify me for next Wednesday's Freebie, a MILKSHAKE.

I will let ya know how it goes!!

Well as long as they...

keep paying me to shop, I guess I have no choice right??? LOL
